No one is tone deaf.

If this were true, you wouldn’t be able to hear concern in someone’s voice, or anger, surprise, love, or sorrow. We’re programmed to tune into sounds and recognise them. The ability to sing is just taking that sound and then reproducing it. What scares people is the fact that this time it’s YOU who are the instrument, there’s no external entity to blame the mistakes on. But there is NOTHING to be scared of!

The key to singing is all in the breath and your core support. We will learn all about the diaphragm, how it works, and how it is an essential part of making sure you have enough breath to sing. If you’re a beginner, we will be doing a lot of breathing exercises to help you breathe from the right place, and even if you’re more advanced, I will always be checking to make sure your diaphragm is being used correctly!

Singing uses a lot of imagination too, we have to hear the notes in our head before we sing, which is handy in situations where either the piano or the band doesn’t provide our notes for us, they have to sometimes be doing their own thing! In our lessons, we will tailor progress to your ability and your range, which is the first thing I will check, to see how high and low you can sing. Then we can be free to find songs that fit your voice and build your confidence. Remember, not everyone can sing Bryan Adams or Beyonce, so it’s important we find the songs that work FOR YOU!

Personally, I am classically trained with an ATCL in singing from Trinity College London. I have also travelled with choirs around the UK and Europe, and been the frontman of my own band since 2016. So if you’ve always sung in the car and fancy developing it further, get in touch!

All lessons are billed on a monthly basis.
